Home Studio

Well my big glam studio in the city lasted two years, but as my eldest moved out I had the perfect excuse and a compact but newly painted room to move in back home. The great thing- fresh air from balcony doors- not an option in the city with all the bus fumes and road noise and of course saving some money which never hurts.
I'm just as messy as ever but it takes less time to clean up!

Trixie History

PLAGIARISM is rife in the craft scene and I was even accused of it myself recently by a local imitator who started after me and has been operating a mere 2 years.
My work in ceramics however predates the internet by a decade as this image shows.
Trixie Delicious is an internet brand I established in 2006 to keep my online persona and private life separate. The inspiration for my work goes back to my time at Elam 1982-87 where I completed a BFA in Sculpture with honours.
I sold reworked ceramics under my name Karen Dennis from 1990- the freedom plate above-at WORLD in high st when it was just one little store. They now stock my trixiedelicious brand.
I also sold my ceramics through The Fish Shop Gallery (Ponsonby) in the early 90s where I had two solo exhibitions.
While we all enjoy the internet it is wise to remember it has a very short history unlike people and their ongoing art processes- mine spanning almost 3 decades.

Lots of new customers seem to be turning to the internet for their shopping needs.
Makes sense when you can't find those much need F U C K E R plates or that Whore Slut teacup duo at your local mall.
One thing you must have in place before proceeding however is a Paypal account or the ability to pay through Paypal with a credit card or visa debit card.
Most online vendors/shops don't care for old fashioned bank- transfer- 3 weeks later- nonsense in regard to International sales.
We want to see our hard earned dollars straight away so make sure you get yourself set up BEFORE ordering. Then you don't miss out and you get your stuff much faster eh?!!

Coco and Christina

Coco de Mer have been selling my plates for a few years now in their stores in Los Angeles, London and more recently in NYC.
I was happy to find out yesterday Christina Aguilera became a trixie Coco customer and purchased a couple of plates from their Melrose store.
Her privacy considered I will not divulge the words she chose but they were very naughty indeed.
How very fitting given that new racy look and video shoot of hers.
Wouldn't it be cool if some naughty china made it's debut via a Christina video- hey my fingers are crossed!

GiddySpinster is one such shop.
I really should have kept those old stripper heels of mine and put them to better use...I do wonder where she gets all of those discarded ankle snappers but maybe we shouldn't pry and just enjoy the classy prickliness of it all.
