Viva rad plates!

Today I eagerly awaited the Viva magazine (NZ Herald) for the plate feature put together by design writer Zoe Walker and photographer Babiche Martens and wasn't disappointed

Plagiarism begins at home

Do you know the feeling?
After working hard on an idea for some years now, ever mindful of copyright it really gives me the shits when some lame arse gate crashes my party!
To do it right under my nose, on a NZ craft site that I built a profile with is even more infuriating.
If you wanna rip me off can you please at least try to do it with some style, not shitty stick on letters from the $2 shop on top of nasty cheap chinese made plates.
Better still, why don't you just do what the pretty lady suggests and Fuck Off altogether.....

The Kills and kisses

I LOVE the Kills, so when they played onThursday 26th in Auckland at the TransmissionRoom and I had the opportunity of meeting them through a friend I had to show my appreciation.
This portrait plate was on my Etsy shop but I knew it had to be with it's rightful owners.
To my delight both Alison and Jamie loved it so much they planted kisses on both my cheeks and declared no-one had ever given them a gift as fab as that. Jamie also commented that I made his skin look great awww so sweet.
They took the stage 15 min later and rocked us with their unique style of garage blues. The hits Black Balloon and The Last Day of Magic were the crowd pleasers but their encore version of I Put a Spell on You really gave me goosebumps.
I wish I'd had my camera on the night but these shots will have to do until next time.....

The $10 wall- no really!

In my new space I have bars on the windows which don't open AND we've had the hottest summer day in Auckland since 1868.This doesn't matter because the noisy old air conditioning units keep my paint from drying on my brush and me cool enough to do my thing.
The bars have their uses though as I'm able to bend my hangers around them and display my seconds. Most are flawed in some way- a hairline, chip or some heat marks, but at $10 a plate whose nit-picking...
